Lucy H. Deakins has over a decade of experience representing clients in state and federal litigation. She aims for the most cost-effective solution to her client’s problems, whether that is settling a dispute or litigation.
Lucy formerly focused her practice on contract disputes, commercial litigation, and family law. She has represented clients from major international corporations to local companies to individuals. Lucy has also represented clients in many family law cases, including dissolutions, parenting time disputes, and disputes over child support.
Lucy started her legal career at Fulbright & Jaworski (which became Norton Rose Fulbright) in New York City, focusing on business litigation and securities matters. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she continued focus for the same firm. As Norton Rose Fulbright became the third largest law firm in the world, Lucy realized that she wanted to maintain a closer connection to her clients than was possible in such a firm and left to found Dunsing, Deakins & Galera, LLC, with Fred Dunsing.
Lucy’s diverse career experience has taught her to always focus on how best to achieve the client’s overall goals, not only the short term litigation objective. While Lucy is fully prepared to take a client’s case to trial, she also recognizes that client’s needs vary and sometimes a negotiated settlement is more valuable to the client. She has handled cases through all stages of the proceedings, from filing a complaint through negotiations, discovery, trial, and appeal.
