Experienced Family Lawyer

Altering child support, alimony, child custody, or parenting time requires a significant change in circumstances.  The Law Offices of Fred Andrew Dunsing will vigorously protect your rights in seeking or challenging a motion for modification.

I have practiced law in Colorado since 1998, helping hundreds of clients as a sole practitioner in family law.  I invite you to a free consultation to discuss your custody or support modification case.  You will meet with me and I will personally handle your case.  I make sure you are thoroughly prepared for any hearings, and will stand by you in court to protect your interests.

In actions of modification of custody or visitation, a court considers if a change would be in the best interests of the child(ren).  I regularly practice in the Metro Denver and Vail Valley areas, and I can help educate you as to the views of many family court judges in these jurisdictions.

Contact an experienced Colorado family law attorney for effective representation in your modification case.  I offer a free consultation and accept all major credit cards.

Custody and
Support Modifications
CUSTODY AND SUPPORT MODIFICATIONS
Child Support and Spousal Maintenance Modification

Colorado law requires a "substantial and continuing change" in personal circumstances of either party to approve a modification of child support. The general benchmark is a resulting 10% increase or decrease in the support obligation from changes such as a big raise or an employment layoff.  I also represent clients in petitions to terminate child support or maintenance.

Often, the other parent or ex-spouse tries to shield assets through family of friends, or exaggerates child-rearing expenses.  I have an M.B.A. and a record of success in uncovering hidden income and assets or inflated expenses of the other party.  I will protect your interests by ensuring that the court has full and accurate financial information before ruling on a modification motion.

Custody and Visitation Modifications

Parenting time and physical custody of children can also be modified for a variety of reasons:
  • Changes in work schedules
  • Motions for shared custody/increased parenting time
  • The child wants to live with the other parent
  • Allegations of substance abuse or physical or emotional abuse of a child
  • Relocation of one parent (out of state or within Colorado)
